How to Work in TVDE with Your Own Vehicle in Portugal?

To use your own vehicle for TVDE services, it must meet the following criteria:

Less than 10 years old from the date of first registration (less than 12 years if it is 100% electric)
5 doors — this is what the platforms require to operate on both; Uber indicates 4 doors on some pages, so please check the current vehicle requirements on Uber and Bolt
Seating capacity of up to 9 passengers
Portuguese registration
An eligible model on the TVDE platforms
The vehicle must be owned by you and driven exclusively by you — as of 1 September 2026, the law only allows a vehicle to be made available under a loan-for-use agreement (comodato) between the owner-driver and the operator; lending vehicles belonging to third parties is no longer permitted.

To operate in TVDE, a specific insurance policy is required.

TVDE insurance is mandatory to work with platforms such as Uber and Bolt.

The loan-for-use agreement (comodato) allows you to use the vehicle for TVDE activities.

It is entered into between you, the vehicle owner, and Bluwalk.
The vehicle may only be driven by you for TVDE activities.
The vehicle always remains the property of its owner.
It is the document that places the vehicle under Bluwalk’s TVDE licence and allows it to be registered with the platforms.

The vehicle must undergo a specific TVDE inspection.
